Core Values and Behavioral Expectations

Professional Relationships

  1. Commitment to Equality

    • We foster a supportive, inclusive environment where all individuals receive respect
    • We value diversity regardless of gender, race, age, ethnic background, culture, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic status, disability, or impairment
  2. Communication Standards

    • Staff must communicate professionally with colleagues, parents, schools, and students
    • All student communications must be recorded in the company database
    • Screenshots of digital communications must be uploaded
    • Use only company email addresses and telephone numbers for professional reasons
    • Exercise professional judgment when engaging with parents, agents, or staff at partner schools
  3. Maintaining Boundaries

    • Social relationships with students are inappropriate
    • Report any boundary breaches to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
    • Never use language that could be racist, sexist, homophobic, promote political views, encourage radicalization, or contain profanity

Safety Protocols

  1. Physical Contact Guidelines

    • Physical contact must be appropriate to professional role and never for adult gratification
    • Contact should never be secretive
    • Report potentially misinterpreted actions to the DSL
    • Physical restraint is permitted only as a last resort when a child is in imminent danger
    • All restraint incidents must be reported and recorded
    • Physical and corporal punishment are forbidden
  2. One-to-One Interactions

    • Avoid secluded or remote meeting areas
    • Ensure visual access to meetings
    • Inform another staff member about the meeting
    • Assess if another staff member should be present
    • Report concerns to the DSL
  3. Supporting Distressed Students

    • Express sympathy and help through words
    • Sitting and listening can provide comfort
    • Avoid physical contact unless initiated by the student
    • In most cases, physical contact is not recommended
  4. Transportation Safety

    • When transporting students, ensure:
      • Insurance coverage is appropriate
      • Parental consent is obtained
      • Vehicle is roadworthy
      • Required equipment meets UK standards
  5. Privacy and Searches

    • Follow school policy on searching, screening, and confiscation
    • Adhere to government guidelines
    • Inform DSL of allegations and conduct proper investigations
    • Notify school, parents, agent, and guardian as appropriate
    • Involve outside agencies when necessary

Critical Prohibitions

  1. Zero-Tolerance Areas

    • Sexual relationships with students are criminal offenses
    • No drugs under any circumstances
    • Drinking alcohol with students is forbidden
    • Monetary gifts to students are not permitted
    • Gifts that could be considered bribes are prohibited
  2. Gifts and Rewards Policy

    • Pre-approve all rewards or gifts
    • Avoid favoritism
    • Keep gift value modest
